Giacomo Giovannetti
(b. 1983, Senigallia - Italy)
He lives and works in Senigallia. His path starts in the mid 90’s as a writer then he’s influenced by the art of Basquiat, Art Brut, action painting and American Abstractionism. Student of the master Concetto Pozzati at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, he takes his work towards a more intimate environment made of memories, works which are as treasure caskets, collecting fragments and generating perceptive doors, starting to create assemblages, transforming his research into a container open to stimuli and stories from intimate and global contexts; often using collages, a passion that accompanies him from early childhood. He deepened his path by obtaining a diploma in Art Therapy at the Aspic School in Rome and then at the Bicocca University in Milan.
He’s lived a few years in Ecuador, working as a street educator, taking his artistic workshops to the streets of Ambato. His path would be indelibly contaminated by the intercultural factor and traveling experiences, increasingly turning his research towards social commitment, acquiring passion for biodiversity and the environment, starting to generate works that connect symbols and stories far away. In 2011 he created the sustainable clothing brand "UPUPA & COLIBRI’" with which he’s started successful collaborations with Jovanotti and other established artists of the music scene.

'Each of the great paintings that make up the project is in fact the result of a "two-way game" between the same artist and his daughter Nina, welcomed within the creative process as co-author of the works. The works were created by the artist through a process of overlap, both technical and semantic.' (Alex Urso)
